Care & Use Instructions

Each Kasia’s Canvas board is made to be used, loved and treasured for years. A little care goes a long way in keeping it beautiful.

Cleaning

Wipe your board clean after each use with a damp cloth or mild soap and water.
For gentle prep like fruit or bread, a quick wipe is enough. If you’ve been cutting strong-smelling foods like garlic or onion, a small amount of soap will help remove any lingering scent.

Avoid using too much soap as it strips the wood’s natural oils and can dry it out faster.

Drying

Dry your board immediately after washing. Never leave it sitting in water or a damp sink. Wood absorbs moisture, which can lead to warping or cracking.

And please, no dishwashers. The high heat and water pressure are far too harsh for natural wood.

Oiling

Just like skin, wood needs moisture to stay healthy. When your board starts to look dull or feels dry, it’s time to re-oil.

We recommend coconut, mineral, linseed, beeswax, or tung oil. A blend of coconut oil and beeswax works beautifully; the oil nourishes the wood and the wax adds water resistance.
Apply a thin layer with a soft cloth and rub it in until the wood stops absorbing. You can even use a coconut oil cooking spray for an easy refresh.

Avoid vegetable or olive oils as they can go rancid over time.

Natural Refresh

For a simple deep clean, sprinkle coarse salt over the surface and rub it with half a lemon or lime. The salt gently scrubs away stains while the citrus naturally deodorises and disinfects.
Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly.

A Few Quick Rules

  • Never submerge your board in water.

  • Always store it somewhere dry.

  • Treat it with oil regularly, every few weeks if you use it often.

  • Appreciate the natural variations in the timber; that’s what makes each piece uniquely yours.

Handmade with care. Designed to last.
A little maintenance keeps your Kasia’s Canvas piece looking as stunning as the day it was made.
